Purchase a $5 Muni Express Ticket and take advantage of dedicated event transportation to and from the starting line. Please read details below.

Dedicated Muni bus service for special event Muni Express Sticker holders ONLY.
•  Express Sticker on your race bib entitles you to ride on all Muni vehicles, including special express lines, from 5:30 am to 5:00 pm. Express buses only run until 3:00 pm.
 
Dedicated Muni bus service for Muni Fast Pass holders ONLY.
•  Runners who already have a Muni Fast Pass can pay an additional $2 and get an Express Sticker, only available on race day in the ticket booth located at the bus stop on Martin Luther King Drive between Sunset Boulevard and 34th Avenue from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
 
Special MUNI EXPRESS buses to the Starting Line.
•  5-Fulton line from Fulton and 47th, from 5:45 am to 8:00 am, with local stops from 47th to Masonic, then express service from Masonic to the starting area.
•  N-Judah line from Judah and 48th, from 5:45 am to 8:00 am, with local stops from 48th to Duboce, then express service from Duboce to the starting area.
•  Muni Metro from West Portal Station to Embarcadero Station, from 5:30 am to 8:00 am, with stops at Forest Hill, Castro, Church and Van Ness, then express to the starting area.
•  Muni Metro from the Caltrain Depot to the starting area, beginning at 6:00 am.

Special MUNI EXPRESS buses after the race returning to the Starting Line.
•  Special Muni Express buses will pick up riders from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please look for the Muni signage directing riders to the pickup on Martin Luther King Drive between Sunset Boulevard and 34th Avenue, 300 yards south of the south tunnel of the Polo Field in Golden Gate Park. The Express buses run back to the starting area with intermediate stops at Masonic and Turk; Bush and Fillmore; Bush and Van Ness; Bush and Powell; and the Montgomery BART Station.

Five bus lines will be providing service to San Francisco before 6:30 am from: Alameda, line O; Berkeley, line F; Emeryville, lines C, F; Oakland, lines A, C, F, N, O; Piedmont, line C; and San Leandro, line N.

Caltrain

Caltrain will NOT be serving the Albertsons Bay to Breakers this year due to a major construction project. There is NO weekend Caltrain service through spring 2004.

Please refer to the SamTrans section for information about express bus service to and from the race. If you are coming from the South Bay, the southernmost SamTrans express bus stop is the Palo Alto Caltrain Station.

Charter buses
Charter buses must park along Sunset Boulevard south of Irving parallel to Sunset Boulevard. Buses must park in the curb lane, leaving the intersection clear. In case of emergency, the San Francisco Police Department requires that drivers remain with the buses while they are parked. No picnics or barbecues allowed.

In addition to Golden Gate Larkspur regular weekend service, these trips have been added: 6 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7 a.m., 7:40 a.m. and 8:40 a.m.

Return ferry service: 40 minutes after the hour from 9:40 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. with two final trips at 4:40 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. One-way adult cash fare $5.60.

Bay to Breakers Service
Hit the road and miss the traffic and parking hassles by taking SamTrans express bus service to the Albertsons Bay to Breakers on Sunday, May 18. SamTrans will take you to the Bay (Second and Folsom streets) bright and early on race day, and then pick you up near the Breakers (Sunset Boulevard) after the race.
•  Three express bus routes will serve 10 cities along the Peninsula: Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Atherton, Redwood City, San Carlos, Belmont, San Mateo, Burlingame, Millbrae and San Bruno.
•  All buses arrive at Second and Folsom streets (about six blocks southwest of the start line) by 7:10 am to drop off runners. Buses will then travel to Sunset Boulevard to drop off spectators by 7:40 am.
•  After the race, buses depart Sunset Boulevard (between Irving and Judah streets), beginning at 10 am or when full. The last bus will depart Sunset Boulevard at 1 pm.
•  A “Participants’ Bus” will be available to hold extra clothes and food during the race (no valuables please). SamTrans is not responsible for any articles left on the bus.
 
Fare
•  The roundtrip fare is $10. Reservations are recommended and available on a first-come, first-served basis Apr. 1 – May 9. Early birds: reserve your ride by Apr. 30, and you'll be entered into a special drawing for great prizes!
•  You may request a registration form by calling 1-800-660-4287 or you may download the form online at www.samtrans.com, beginning Apr. 1.


Vallejo Ferry

• The Vallejo ferry departs from the Vallejo terminal
   located at 495 Mare Island Way at 6:30 am and
   arrives at San Francisco's Ferry Building at 7:30 am.    This is a special service on Race Day.
• The return ferry will maintain its regular schedule of
   weekend return stops to Vallejo from Pier 41 and the
   Ferry Building. Call for departure times.
• One-way fares: $9.00 for adults; $4.50 for juniors
   (6-12), seniors (65+) and disabled; children under 5
   travel free. Fares subject to change.
